Evidence for Litigators

This course covers both the Federal and Texas rules of evidence and emphasizes the application of these rules in context.  Students will approach the rules of evidence from a practical perspective studying how the rules apply in actual settings.  Frequently students will adopt the role of trial counsel, judge or appellate court in order to analyze the application, effect and consequences of a rule.  The course will emphasize current issues in evidence such as the effect of technology, developments in neuroscience and the role of expert witnesses.
