DESCRIPTION:<p>The <a href="http://www.americanbar.org/groups/affordable_housing.html">American Bar Association Forum on Affordable Housing &amp; Community Development Law</a> will be hosting a panel to discuss careers in this field. Panelists include <a href="http://www.lockelord.com/attorneys/detail.aspx?attorney=85">Cynthia Bast '91, Partner with Locke, Lord Bissell &amp; Liddell</a>; Monita Johnson-Henley,  Attorney with <a href="http://www.tdhca.state.tx.us/">Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs</a>; Debra L. Loya, Chief Counsel with the <a href="http://www.hud.gov/offices/ogc/fldmanagers.cfm">U.S. Department of  Housing and Urban Development (San Antonio)</a>; and Veronica Rodriguez, Staff Attorney at <a href="http://www.trla.org/">Texas RioGrande Legal Aid</a>. Moderated by Heather Way ’96, Director of the <a href="http://www.utexas.edu/law/clinics/community/">UT Law Community Development Clinic</a>.  Practitioners of affordable housing and community development law work within the fields of traditional corporate, business, real estate, tax and nonprofit law to create affordable housing, equity funds, schools, community-based financial institutions, green jobs and buildings, child care centers, and health care facilities. The field involves transactional as well as litigation work. Refreshments will be served.
