SUMMARY:Pro Bono in Private Practice
DESCRIPTION:<p>Students interested in making pro bono work an important part of their law firm careers are invited to learn more about the benefits of pro bono work. <a href="http://www.akingump.com/sschulman/">Steven Schulman, Pro Bono Partner</a> at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer &amp; Feld LLP (Washington, DC) will discuss law firm pro bono programs and the importance of pro bono service in your legal career. Information on <a href="http://www.akingump.com/probono/probonoscholarsprogram/">Akin Gump’s Pro Bono Scholars Program</a> will also be provided. Akin Gump’s Pro Bono Scholars program is now available in Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, and Washington, DC. Upon commencement of work at the public interest organization, Pro Bono Scholars will receive a stipend of $20,000, and are paid the standard summer associate salary while at the firm.</p>
  <p>Boxed lunches will be served and are sponsored by Akin Gump. Co-sponsored by the <a href="http://www.utexas.edu/law/centers/publicinterest/probono/">UT Law Pro Bono Program</a> and the <a href="http://www.utexas.edu/law/career">Career Services Office</a>.</p>
