Two clinical professors Bill Allison and Jeana Lungwitz will be our guests for the evening (Professor Ariel Dulitzky may also join). Bill Allison is a Clinical Professor of Law, Director of the Criminal Defense Clinic and Co-director of the Actual Innocence Clinic. He is a Board Certified Specialist in Criminal Law from the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. In recent years, Bill Allison and a team of lawyers won the release of a young man who had spent more than 12 years in prison for a murder he did not commit. Recently, he was part of the team that won a $5.3 million civil rights settlement for one of these exonerated individuals.
Jeana Lungwitz is a Clinical Professor in the Domestic Violence Clinic. She began her work with victims of domestic violence volunteering at the Center for Battered Women (currently Safeplace) in Austin, Texas in 1991, Later on, she went to work as a Family Violence Staff Attorney with the Texas Advocacy Project, Inc. (formerly the Women’s Advocacy Project), a non-profit legal corporation.
