DESCRIPTION:<p>This panel will discuss how human rights are codified at the local and state level in Texas. It will begin with a discussion of human rights and civil rights, and how the two intersect. Panelists will discuss
   recent efforts to advance LGBT and women’s rights in Texas, the challenges faced, and how these local efforts interact with and compare to national civil rights and international human rights movements. Confirmed speakers include Representative Celia Israel, pro-choice policy advocate Aimee Arrambide, and Professor Ariel Dulitzky. The event is co-sponsored by the Feminist Policy Alliance and Harvey Milk Society, both at the LBJ School of Public Affairs, and the Rapoport Center.
