DESCRIPTION:<p>Learn about careers in indigent defense from Texas Law alumni and friends serving as public defenders. Panelists will discuss their careers and offer advice on how to land a job as a public defender. Panelists include Jessica Brand, Attorney, <a href="http://fairpunishment.org/">Fair Punishment Project</a>; Genesis Draper, ’06, Assistant Federal Public Defender, <a href="http://www.fpdsdot.org/en/">Office of the Federal Public Defender for the Southern District of Texas (Houston)</a>; Katy Dyer, Director of Holistic Defense, <a href="http://www.capds.org/">Capital Area Private Defender Service</a>; and Rhiannon Hamam, ‘16, Attorney, Starr County Public Defender, <a href="http://www.trla.org/">Texas RioGrande Legal Aid</a>. Moderated by <a href="https://law.utexas.edu/faculty/wr4464/">Chris Roberts, Clinical Professor and Director of the Texas Law Criminal Defense Clinic</a>.</p>
