SUMMARY:Launch: Michael Tigar Papers
DESCRIPTION:
The event will celebrate Michael Tigar’s career, as we launch a website organized around a digital archive of his papers that he generously donated to the Rapoport Center and the Briscoe Center in 2016. The archive includes documents, photographs, and creative works, as well as video oral histories that the Rapoport Center conducted with him in 2016. The archive speaks to his work as a champion for human rights and social justice in both national and international arenas.

In addition to launching the website, the event will feature a roundtable of individuals who have worked with Tigar in a variety of contexts, including Fernando Chávez, Bernardine Dohrn, Robin Mardemetoo, Wayne Reaud, and Jordan Steiker; a staged reading of an excerpt from one of Tigar’s plays; and a one-on-one interview with him, conducted by Lois Romano. We will conclude the evening with a reception, with toasts from his family, friends, and colleagues.

Free and open to the public. Please register!
\n\nIf you need an accommodation to participate in this event, please contact the event sponsor or the Texas Law Special Events Office at specialevents@law.utexas.edu no later than seven business days prior to the event.
