DESCRIPTION:<p>For our 2019 Symposium, Texas Hispanic Journal of Law &amp; Policy will host a Latino Lunch Series every Tuesday of February with speakers discussing various legal and policy issues on the U.S.-Mexico border.</p>
  <p>Stripped Away: Stories of Immigrant Children</p>
  <p>This panel will discuss the issues immigrant children face while in state and federal custody. Taking a multidisciplinary approach, the discussion will include legal representation for immigrant children, conditions faced by children who are detained or placed in federally licensed unaccompanied refugee foster care programs, and the long term psychological impact and trauma of being separated from family for long periods of time. Speakers include Kate-Lincoln Goldfinch (private practice), Ana Maria Rea (RAICES), Sarah Valdes (RAICES), Monica Faulkner (PHD, LMSW), and Melanie-Chung Sherman (LCSW)</p>\n\nIf you need an accommodation to participate in this event, please contact the event sponsor or the Texas Law Special Events Office at specialevents@law.utexas.edu no later than seven business days prior to the event.
