SUMMARY:Coercive Contracts in the Age of #MeToo
DESCRIPTION:<p>n the age of #MeToo and workplace sexual harassment, the role of coercive contracts in suppressing harassment claims, workplace abuses, and more have entered the public sphere. While non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) have become the most public form of coercive contracts, forced arbitration clauses, class action waivers, and non-compete clauses can also play a role in limiting worker rights and autonomy. During this discussion, we will discuss how these forms of contracts have come into play, ways in which we can protect workers' rights, and ongoing movements at all levels to eliminate the presence of coercive contracts, from Hollywood to the legal profession. </p>\n\nIf you need an accommodation to participate in this event, please contact the event sponsor or the Texas Law Special Events Office at specialevents@law.utexas.edu no later than seven business days prior to the event.
