DESCRIPTION:<p>The Susan L. Blount Power Lunch Series spotlights remarkable lawyers from diverse backgrounds and careers to share their experiences with students and Center guests.  To launch this year’s event series, The Center for Women of Law presents, A Conversation with Mary Jo White: Litigation Partner at Debevoise, Counselor to Boards of Directors, former Chair of the SEC and former US Attorney for the Southern District of New York.</p>
  <p>Mary Jo White, will be interviewed by Susan Blount, President-Elect of CWIL’s Executive Committee and retired General Counsel of Prudential Financial. They will discuss Ms. White’s storied career as a prominent New York City litigator, long service U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York and one of the longest tenured Chairs of the U. S. Securities and Exchange Commission.  During this conversation, they will explore the building blocks of Ms. White’s trailblazing career and her advice on a variety of topics.</p>

  <p><strong>Mary Jo White</strong> currently serves as a litigation partner and Senior Chair of the firm of Debevoise &amp; Plimpton.  She previously served as Chair of the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (2013-2017) and United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York (1993-2002).</p>

  <p><strong>Susan L. Blount</strong>, Executive Vice President and General Counsel, Prudential Financial, Inc. (retired) and President-Elect of the Executive Committee, Center for Women in Law</p>
  <p><strong>Susan Blount</strong> was the General Counsel of Prudential Financial, Inc. from 2005-2015, responsible for its global law, compliance, business ethics and external affairs organizations.  She had been a member of the Prudential law department since 1985. Before joining Prudential, she was an Associate at Kirkland &amp; Ellis.  Ms. Blount currently serves as President-Elect of the Center for Women in Law, Vice-Chair of the University of Texas Law School Foundation and as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Texas School of Law.
