  <p>The CSO is partnering with the State Bar of Texas Tax Section to host So You Want To Be a Tax Lawyer?, a panel discussion about various career opportunities available to attorneys in the area of tax law. Panelists include Abbey Garber, Partner at Thompson &amp; Knight; Adam Flick, Deputy Area Counsel for the SB/SE Area 6, IRS Office of Chief Counsel; Tracy Turner, Attorney at Brusniak Turner Fine LLP; and Brock Whalen, Associate Area Counsel for the IRS Office of Chief Counsel in Austin.  </p>
  <p><strong>Scholarship Available | Apply by April 16, 2021
  </strong>The scholarships are $2,000 each and are awarded to students demonstrating academic excellence and commitment to the study and practice of tax law.  Any student who is enrolled in an ABA-accredited law school at the time the application is submitted, and who intends to practice tax law in Texas, is eligible to apply.</p>
  <p><a href="http://www.texastaxsection.org/uploads/2021%20scholarship%20application%20.pdf">Applications</a> are due by April 16, 2021.  As in years past, the scholarships will be awarded at the State Bar of Texas Annual Meeting in June.  Winners need not be present in order to receive the award.</p>\n\nIf you need an accommodation to participate in this event, please contact the event sponsor or the Texas Law Special Events Office at specialevents@law.utexas.edu no later than seven business days prior to the event.
