SUMMARY:Ending DOJ’s China Initiative
DESCRIPTION:<p>Join Michael Ellis, Visiting Fellow for Law and Technology, at The Heritage Foundation or a discussion on the Biden Administration’s decision to end DOJ’S China Initiative. </p>
  <p>Prior to joining Heritage, Mr. Ellis was general counsel of the National Security Agency and served in several different national security roles in the Trump administration. Prior to his service at the White House, Mr. Ellis was general counsel of the U.S. House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. </p>
  <p>The event will be moderated by Prof. Adam Klein, Deputy Director of the Strauss Center for International Security and Law.</p>

  <p>DOJ launched a “China Initiative” in November 2018 that sought to to identify and prosecute trade secret theft, hacking, and economic espionage; protect U.S. critical infrastructure against threats from Chinese foreign direct investment and supply chain compromises; and combat covert efforts to influence the American public and policymakers. In February 2022, the Biden administration announced it would end the initiative. </p>
  <p>Mr. Ellis will discuss foreign policy and national security consequences of the decision and the benefits of the China Initiative. </p>
