SUMMARY:The Justice Lab: Pro Bono Partnerships
DESCRIPTION:<p>Celebrate Pro Bono Week with the Mithoff Program by attending a lunch presentation about the Justice Lab, an ACLU project launched after the murder of George Floyd. The Justice Lab’s litigation initiative enlists law firms to challenge racially motivated stops and seizures under the Fourth and Fourteenth Amendments and applicable state laws. </p>
  <p>During the talk, Keith Cohan and Ryan Goldstein with Reid Collins &amp; Tsai will discuss representation of Teliah Perkins in Perkins v. Hart, one of 40 individual police misconduct lawsuits filed by law firms and law school legal clinics working with the Justice Lab on a pro bono basis. Perkins v. Hart currently is pending in the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, following the trial court’s denial of the defendant-sheriff deputies’ motion for summary judgment of Ms. Hart’s claims.</p>\n\nIf you need an accommodation to participate in this event, please contact the event sponsor or the Texas Law Special Events Office at specialevents@law.utexas.edu no later than seven business days prior to the event.
