SUMMARY:Review of the TX Abortion Pill Lawsuit
DESCRIPTION:<p>Join If/When/How and Astrid Ackerman, legal fellow at the Center for Reproductive Rights, for a discussion about Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine v. FDA. This lawsuit challenges the FDA's approval of mifepristone, one of the pills used in the two-pill medication abortion regimen. The case was filed in the Amarillo Division of the Northern District of Texas. Lunch will be served!</p>
  <p>Before joining the Center, Astrid was a Litigation Associate at the law firm Kramer Levin Naftalis &amp; Frankel, LLP, where she maintained an active pro bono docket including reproductive rights and gender-based violence matters in state court. During her time at Kramer Levin, she was also an extern at Brooklyn Legal Services’ Immigration Unit, where she represented clients in immigration court and administrative proceedings.</p>
  <p>Astrid received her J.D. from UC Berkeley, School of Law. During law school, she was Executive Editor of the Berkeley Journal of Gender, Law &amp; Justice, a member of Law Students for Reproductive Justice, an Advocacy Chair for La Raza Law Students Association, and a research assistant to Professor David Oppenheimer. She also participated in the Tenants’ Rights Workshop at the East Bay Community Law Center and the Human Rights Clinic.
