SUMMARY:EmPOWERed for Public Interest
DESCRIPTION:
Join the Justice Center for the second EmPOWERed for Public Interest (EPI) lunch of the semester. This gathering continues our ongoing effort to create space for students whose lived experiences intersect with the legal systems they hope to challenge through their future work.

EPI is designed for students whose personal or family histories shape their public interest commitments. This includes students who have been directly impacted by the criminal legal system and are exploring public defense; immigrant students or children of immigrants who aim to confront the immigration system; and low-income students seeking to dismantle laws and policies that disproportionately burden poor communities, such as predatory lending, cash bail, and other structural barriers.

These lunches offer a supportive, confidential space for dialogue, mentorship, and resource-sharing. Students are invited to reflect on how their lived experiences inform their goals as public interest advocates and future attorneys.

We look forward to being in community with you.
\n\nIf you need an accommodation to participate in this event, please contact the event sponsor or the Texas Law Special Events Office at specialevents@law.utexas.edu no later than seven business days prior to the event.
