SUMMARY:Welcome Reception for Azadeh Shahshahan
DESCRIPTION:<p>Azadeh is the Legal and Advocacy Director at Project South, where she leads work focused on immigrant rights and racial justice. Before joining Project South, she spent approximately a decade as an immigrants’ rights attorney with the ACLU of Georgia and the ACLU of North Carolina. 
   
  A past president of the National Lawyers Guild, Azadeh currently serves on the Advisory Council of the American Association of Jurists. She has authored or edited numerous human rights reports, law review articles, and book chapters addressing movement lawyering, immigrants’ rights, the surveillance of Muslim Americans, and the use of international human rights frameworks as tools for liberation. </p>
  <p>The reception will offer an informal opportunity to meet Azadeh Shahshahani, learn more about her work, and connect with other students interested in public interest law. </p>
