Paid Judicial Intern Opportunity Program for 1Ls & 2Ls

The mission of the Judicial Intern Opportunity Program is to provide opportunities to students who are members of racial and ethnic groups that are traditionally underrepresented in the profession. The program also provides opportunities to students with disabilities, students who are economically disadvantaged, and students who identify themselves as LGBT.

The ABA Section of Litigation, which overseas the JOIP, is now accepting applications from second-year law students. Applications from first-year students will be accepted starting December 1, 2013. The deadline for all applications is Friday, January 10, 2014. No applications will be accepted after the deadline, and students are encouraged to apply as early as possible. Applications will be considered on a rolling basis. Only the first 500 applicants are guaranteed a screening interview.

The ABA Section will be placing 150 students in summer internships. This year’s students will be granted awards in the amount of $2,000 to help offset some of the expenses associated with the placement.

Please proceed to the program application to apply to the Summer 2014 program.
