Texas Law and Gideon’s Promise Public Defender Fellowships

Texas Law participates in the Law School Partnership Program (LSPP) sponsored by Gideon’s Promise, a nonprofit that works to reform indigent defense through training and support of public defenders. Through the partnership, Gideon’s Promise helps law school graduates secure public defender positions and provides three years of intensive training.

The Texas Law Gideon’s Promise Fellowship funds 3L students to participate in the program for up to a year following graduation, after which the fellows move into a long-term positions with the public defender offices. The fellowship provides $45,000 for the first year.

This is a great opportunity for outstanding students interested in public defense, first-rate training, and permanent employment.
