Opposing permit for new liquefied natural gas plant along the Lower Laguna Madre

The Clinic is co-counseling with Texas RioGrande Legal Aid to represent Vecinos Para el Bienestar de la Comunidad Costera and the Fishers and Shrimper of the RGV.  The new liquefied natural gas facility would result in frequent closures of the Brownsville ship channel limiting clients’ access to their boats, would significantly increase air pollution, and would threaten adjacent wildlife refuges.  Students have researched technologies that would reduce pollution from the plant, worked with our technical expert to draft written comments on the permit, requested a contested case hearing, and participated with our clients in a public meeting in Brownsville.
