Description
This course will explore the legal regulation of sexuality. The course will deal first with theoretical approaches to sexuality, in particular the view that regards sexuality as a social construction, rather than an expression of a- historical instincts. Then we will explore a series of major legal and political issues: the exclusion of homosexual sodomy from the practices protected by the right to privacy, same sex marriage, pornography, contemporary reproductive technology controversies and others. Reading materials will include theoretical works as well as US and foreign cases.Instructors
