Description
This class explores the “non-market” environment in which businesses operate. The challenges include the activities of interest groups, local communities, elected officials, regulators, courts and the press. These groups often focus on issues of product safety, environmental quality, coerced foreign labor, fraud and misrepresentation, community interactions, sexual and racial discrimination, and other salient questions confronting businesses and society. We explore strategies, both short- and long-run, to navigate the challenges and to continue operating as a profitable business.Instructors
