Description
The course will deal with the history, purpose and status of state and federal efforts to control the presence and influence of money in election campaigns. The course will examine the presence and use of money in recent election campaigns, recent court rulings affecting the right of government to limit campaign contributions and expenditures, Texas Ethic Commission rules and opinions, and new efforts to reform state and federal law as a result of these recent court rulings and election campaign activity. Students will be asked to write a paper on a relevant topic selected by the student and approved by Professor Bickerstaff.Instructors
