Description

As the name of the seminar indicates, we will focus on current issues in oil and gas law. These include, but are not limited to: Fracking litigation and regulation in Texas and throughout the country; the pros and cons of the highly controversial TransCanada Keystone Pipeline, including the common carrier issue; the explosion of litigation over mineral titles, including especially construction of grants and reservations in deeds executed when it was almost universally assumed that the lease royalty would always be 1/8; Railroad Commission decisions involving the allocation doctrine and grants of forced pooling against unleased tracts; interpretation of horizontal severance clauses in leases and lease assignments; litigation involving whether contracts to lease or assign a lease are or are not binding; modifications of the accommodation doctrine, and other issues that may arise during the course of the semester.
