Description

This reading group explores the gap between the number of women law school graduates and the number of women who occupy leadership positions in the profession through the lens of leadership theory. After reviewing general leadership theory, the reading group applies that theory in the specific context of women in the legal profession. The reading group evaluates the status of women in law practice, the judiciary, legal education, and politics, and looks at barriers that cross each of those areas, including gender bias, pay equity, work/family and diversity issues. The reading group also covers best practices developed to eliminate those barriers. Familiarity with the topic will be gained through book chapters, law review articles and reports issued by leading professionals in the field.
