This three-hour course teaches advanced persuasion skills for effective appellate briefs and oral arguments in the courts of appeals and Texas Supreme Court. Students have four writing assignments, including one brief to the court of appeals and one brief to the Texas Supreme Court, all concerning the same hypothetical insurance coverage case. Students also make approximately three to five oral arguments concerning that case. Pertinent aspects of the rules of appellate procedure are also taught. The class meets once each week. There is no midterm or final exam.
