Description

The emphasis of this course will be on building bridges between the study of constitutional law and political theory. To that end, we will move back and forth between case readings and readings from political and legal philosophers. Topics will include speech, religion, privacy, abortion, surrogate parenting, stem cell research and eugenics, discrimination and affirmative action. Political theory readings will draw from John Rawls, Robert Nozick, Ronald Dworkin, Michael Sandel, Michael Walzer, Bruce Ackerman, as well as Hobbes, Locke and Mill.
