Yes! And…Applied Improv for Mediators

This highly interactive workshop will create a safe space in which we will merge mediation and improv perspectives and objectives, and the focus of both disciplines on "getting to yes."

The program is intended to offer fresh, and sometimes unconventional, insights on how we can improve mediation/conflict resolution skills by understanding the basic components and exercises of improv training. Attendees will also learn techniques to teach to parties involved in mediation.

Instructors

  • Shawn Utterback

    Shawn is an experienced trainer and facilitator with over 15 years experience. As a communications expert and planner, Shawn has led strategy and brand development efforts for several Fortune 500 clients with products ranging from Pampers to Play Station. He is currently an adjunct professor at the Academy of Art University where he teaches Creative Strategy and The Art of Presentation. Shawn has facilitated workshops for a number of organizations including Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest, Louisville Ad Fed, Gilda’s Club, RAPP Collins, Brown-Forman, Destination Imagination and Angel Flight.

  • Terrill Fischer

    Terrill is a trainer, facilitator and improviser. He has over 27 years of speaking, coaching, and training experience in both small business and corporate environments. He has facilitated over 1000 programs on leadership, negotiation, conflict management, and creativity and stress management. He has completed over 80 hours of Dispute Resolution training in the State of Texas. As a conflict management trainer, he combines his professional mediation skills with a solid understanding of how to effectively help individuals and groups engage in ways to find creative solutions to difficult situations. He uses improvisational techniques to help mediators improve their conflict competence.
