The Center for Women in Law’s Leaders-in-Residence Program integrates women of national and local prominence into the Center for Women in Law and expands the Center’s reach and prominence in the legal community. In collaboration with the Executive Director, Leaders-in-Residence develop and implement new programs for the Center, serve as a resource to students and alumni, and work to strengthen relationships between national leaders and the Center.
2012 – 13 Leaders-in Residence
Catherine A. Lamboley is the first woman to serve as general counsel of a major oil company in the United States. While General Counsel of Shell Oil Company, Ms. Lamboley pioneered diversity metrics and other programs to ensure that women lawyers had access to opportunities necessary to their success. One of Ms. Lamboley’s many initiatives required Shell’s outside counsel firms to track and report the hours worked and billings by women and minority attorneys, ensuring that women and minority attorneys received substantive work and importantly, that they received credit in their compensation for that work. Ms. Lamboley’s unwavering commitment to wielding her considerable influence on behalf of women and minority attorneys at Shell and with the outside counsel hired by Shell quickly earned her a national reputation as a key player in the fight for gender parity. Roberta D. Liebenberg is a senior partner at Fine, Kaplan and Black in Philadelphia, where she focuses her practice on class actions, antitrust and complex commercial litigation. Ms. Liebenberg is the recipient of a number of distinguished awards, including the 2008 Sandra Day O’Connor Award by the Philadelphia Bar Association. This award is conferred annually on a woman attorney who has demonstrated superior legal talent, achieved significant legal accomplishments, and has furthered the advancement of women in both the profession and the community. The National Law Journal named Ms. Liebenberg as one of its “50 Most Influential Women Lawyers in America.” She has been named as one of the “Top Ten Super Lawyers in Pennsylvania,” the only woman to receive this designation.
