Founding Member Susan Blount was selected for membership in the 2014 DirectWomen Board Institute, a program designed to identify and promote elite women lawyers to serve on corporate boards of public companies. The Board Institute, now in its 6th year, offers an orientation and update on key issues facing current and future directors of major U.S. businesses, covering topics such as the evolving nature of shareholder relations and the role of executive search firms in board searches. Representing a wide-range of experience, the class of 2014 is comprised of 20 exceptional female lawyers, including in-house counsel or executives to six Fortune 500 companies and the Deputy Mayor of Legal Affairs for New York City.
Susan Blount is executive vice president and general counsel at Prudential Financial. Active on issues relating to higher education, Blount serves on the boards of Montclair State University and NJ LEEP, Inc. (Law and Education Empowerment Project). In 2011, she received the Women of Power and Influence Award from the New York City chapter of the National Organization for Women and the President’s Award from the National Association of Women Lawyers. On June 6, she was honored at the 2013 New Jersey Institute for Social Justice Awards Gala with the Corporate Leadership Award. Blount is a frequent speaker on diversity in the legal profession and corporate governance.
