Sedora Jefferson

Sedora Jefferson is the Associate Executive Director and General Counsel for the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB).  She has held such position since August 2003.  She serves as the chief legal counsel for the Association, responsible for providing legal advice and representation to TASB management and staff on most internal organizational matters affecting TASB and its seven affiliated entities. Prior to joining TASB, Jefferson held similar executive-level legal counsel positions with state and local governments, including serving as the City Attorney for the City of Austin, Texas; Chief of the Administrative Law Division and Director of Human Resources for the Texas Attorney General’s Office; and General Counsel for the former Texas Department of Commerce. Her legal career began in litigation, defending governmental officials and agencies in employment and civil rights cases, as well as representing financial agencies of the state in enforcing insurance, banking and securities laws.  Jefferson has a B.A. from Temple University, J.D. from the UCLA School of Law, and has formal training in mediation and executive management.  She has
been practicing law since 1986.
