A. Haag Sherman is a private investor based in Houston, Texas, with significant experience in starting and managing private companies. From 2002-2012, Mr. Sherman co-founded and served in various executive capacities (including CEO and Chief Investment Officer) for Salient Partners, L.P., an investment firm with $17.5 billion in assets. Prior thereto, Mr. Sherman was a Partner and Executive Officer of The Redstone Companies, L.P., where he focused on private equity and alternative investments from 1998 to 2002. From 1996 to 1998, Mr. Sherman was employed at PaineWebber, Inc., as a part of its Redstone Consulting wealth advisory group. Mr. Sherman began his career with Price Waterhouse, and also practiced corporate and securities law for Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer, & Feld LLP.

Mr. Sherman serves on the boards of numerous publicly traded companies, including: Hilltop Holdings Corp., ZaZa Energy Corporation, Blue Dolphin Energy Company, Salient MLP & Energy Infrastructure and Salient Midstream & MLP Fund. Mr. Sherman is author of Shattering Orthodoxies: An Economic and Foreign Policy Blueprint for America,which outlined problems associated with the financial crisis and provides an integrated plan to address these problems. Mr. Sherman earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Texas School of Law, where he graduated with honors. He is also a cum laude graduate of Baylor University (with majors in accounting and economics), a certified public accountant and a member of the State Bar of Texas.
