Biography

A member of the University's Academy of Distinguished Teachers, Steve Goode teaches Evidence and Criminal Law. He served as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs from 1998 to 2006 and as Dean ad interim in 2006. He is the recipient of the Massey Teaching Excellence Award and the University Civitatis Award.

Goode is the author of several books on the law of evidence and served as a reporter to the committees that drafted the Texas rules of evidence. He currently serves on the State Bar Advisory Committee on the Rules of Evidence and was a long-time member of the Court of Criminal Appeals' Rules Advisory Committee. 

A graduate of Williams College and Yale Law School, Goode practiced law with the Children's Defense Fund in Washington, D.C. before joining the Texas faculty in 1977.
