Graduate Students: Practical Opportunities

Summer Fellowships

The Rapoport Center offers funding for graduate students to work at the Rapoport Center over the summer. Summer fellows advance the Center's mission and ensure that Center projects reflect and incorporate the diverse perspectives and expertise of a multidisciplinary UT academic community. Graduate fellows help with the Center's projects, publications, events, and research and are awarded a stipend to work at least half-time (20 hrs/week). Learn more.

Human Rights Internship & Employment Database

In conjunction with the Career Services Office (CSO), the Rapoport Center has compiled a Human Rights Internship & Employment Database (EID required) with opportunities that UT Law students and alumni have pursued. Our students and graduates have a wealth of experience in the human rights field, and we hope this will serve as a resource to others looking to enter the field.

We have also worked with CSO to contribute to the Public Interest Career Development Handbook to offer guidance on the international public interest/human rights internship and job search. Please see the CSO website for more information.

Human Rights Clinic

The Human Rights Clinic opened in spring 2009 under the direction of Professor Ariel Dulitzky. This interdisciplinary clinic allows graduate and professional students from departments across UT to work on human rights projects and cases from the advocate's perspective. Through working on specific projects and participation in the classroom component of the clinic, students learn substantive human rights law, practice important advocacy techniques and explore different models for ethical, responsible and effective human rights advocacy.
