Students will receive training from Austin Lawyers Guild chapter attorneys to serve as legal observers during protests and public demonstrations. Legal observers watch and document interactions between law enforcement officials and individuals participating in demonstrations.

The Austin Lawyers Guild is the local chapter of the National Lawyers Guild, which was founded in 1937 as an association of progressive lawyers and jurists. The Austin Lawyers Guild is a local group--formed of private practice and nonprofit attorneys, law students, legal workers, activists, and community organizers--created to solve local problems and engage its members in local activism.
