Students will help Medicaid recipients obtain medically necessary nursing, services, or equipment through the fair hearing administrative process. The project involves two sessions, and priority will be given to student volunteers who can attend both sessions. In the first session, students will review and prepare summaries of evidence packets. In the second session, students will use the evidence summaries to draft letters of medical necessity, interrogatories, and complaints. Students also may interview clients and/or their families via phone as scheduling permits. There also may be short related legal research opportunities for some students in lieu of working on client case files.
