Students will help Medicaid recipients obtain medically-necessary treatment through the fair hearing administrative process. The project involves two workshops, and student volunteers must attend both workshops. In the first workshop, students will review evidence packets and interview clients and/or their families, then prepare an evidence index for their reviewed case. In the second workshop, students will draft letters of medical necessity. Disability Rights Texas attorneys and pro bono attorney volunteers will be on-hand to provide supervision and live advice and feedback on drafting.

INCLUDE Project, Mithoff Pro Bono Program
The INCLUDE Project enables students with interests in disability and probate law to provide free legal serves to persons with disabilities and their families. INCLUDE is an internal project of the Richard and Ginni Mithoff Pro Bono Program, in partnership with the William Wayne Justice Center for Public Interest Law. The Medicaid Fair Hearings project is a collaboration between INCLUDE and Disability Rights Texas, the federally-funded Protection and Advocacy entity providing free legal services to persons with disabilities in Texas.
