Medicaid Evidence Workshop with Texas Law INCLUDE Project

Students will help Medicaid recipients obtain medically necessary nursing, services, or equipment through the fair hearing administrative process. The project involves two workshops, and student volunteers must attend both workshops. In the first workshop, students will review evidence packets and prepare summaries of the evidence for each reviewed case. In the second workshop, students will draft letters of medical necessity. Students also may interview clients and/or their families as scheduling permits.

Organization

INCLUDE Project, Mithoff Pro Bono Program

The INCLUDE Project enables students with interests in disability and probate law to provide free legal serves to persons with disabilities and their families. INCLUDE is an internal project of the Richard and Ginni Mithoff Pro Bono Program, in partnership with the William Wayne Justice Center for Public Interest Law. The Medicaid Fair Hearings project is a collaboration between INCLUDE and Disability Rights Texas, the federally-funded Protection and Advocacy entity providing free legal services to persons with disabilities in Texas.
