Students will help Medicaid-eligible youth obtain nursing or other medically necessary services or devices through the fair hearing administrative process. The Medicaid Project involves a collaboration between INCLUDE and Disability Rights Texas, the federally-funded Protection and Advocacy entity providing free legal services to persons with disabilities in Texas.

The INCLUDE Project enables students with interests in disability and probate law to provide free legal serves to persons with disabilities and their families. INCLUDE is an internal project of the Richard and Ginni Mithoff Pro Bono Program, in partnership with the William Wayne Justice Center for Public Interest Law.

- Students should expect to spend approximately 20 hours total on the Medicaid fair hearing process, over a period of months; after training, students will be assigned to cases on a rolling bases as referrals are received

- Friday, September 8, 2:30pm-4:30pm, in TNH 2.138

- Fact-gathering and record review; client interviewing/counseling; preparation of expert and lay witnesses; legal research and writing

- Students may work at Texas Law and at Disability Rights Texas (2222 West Braker Lane, Austin); students also may complete some tasks at an off-site location consistent with confidentiality policy and client needs
