Psychiatric Advanced Directives (PAD) Project with Texas Law INCLUDE Project

Students will help persons with lived experience of mental illness draft advanced directives as part of a person-centered planning approach to the treatment of individuals with mental illness by third parties, including medical and law enforcement personnel. The PAD Project involves a collaboration INCLUDE and Texas Rio Grande Legal Aid.

The INCLUDE Project enables students with interests in disability to provide free legal serves to persons with disabilities and their families. INCLUDE is an internal project of the Richard and Ginni Mithoff Pro Bono Program, in partnership with the William Wayne Justice Center for Public Interest Law.

Students should expect to spend approximately 12 hours total on the project during the academic year, including all training, preparation work, and clinic time

Tuesday, February 13, 12-1pm in TNH 2.137 AND Wednesday, February 28, 6pm-8pm in TNH 2.123; students must attend both training sessions

Clinic to be held offsite at a nonprofit organization’s space.
