Lead student counselors will work closely with a Supervising Attorney and Mithoff Pro Bono Scholars to manage applicants and clinic documents in cases that require more individualized attention than can be managed during normal GAP clinics. Past LSCs have worked with applicants who have foreign birth certificates, applicants with criminal histories, and applicants who otherwise cannot attend our Saturday clinics. Students will schedule individual appointments; prepare for sessions; answer applicant questions; and prepare petitions, orders, and Statements of Inability to Pay Court Costs. Lead Student Counselors will be responsible for communicating with an assigned applicant and scheduling an appointment to work with the applicant while maintaining confidentiality and adhering to UT requirements for data security.
