Texas Law Small Business Wellness Project

Students will work with owners of limited liability companies (LLCs) to help them understand and come into compliance with their legal obligations. Small business owners and entrepreneurs form LLCs to protect themselves and their businesses from lawsuits and other business risks. But these protections only apply if the LLC complies with certain rules that many business owners are not aware of or do not have the resources to follow. Students will work through an interactive checklist with small business owners to review LLC governance practices and other obligations. Students then will prepare documents and provide counseling that will help position the small business for success. Students will lead the meetings and will be assisted by practicing attorneys.
