Texas Law Gender Affirmation Project Lead Student Counselors

Lead student counselors will work closely with a Supervising Attorney and Mithoff Pro Bono Scholars to manage applicants and clinic documents. Students will schedule individual appointments, prepare for sessions, answer applicant questions, and prepare petitions, orders, and Statements of Inability to Pay Court Costs. Lead student counselors will be responsible for communicating with an assigned applicant and scheduling an appointment to work with the applicant while maintaining confidentiality and adhering to UT requirements for data security. The Gender Affirmation Project provides helps people in the trans community change their name and/or gender marker on basic forms of identification.

Training will be scheduled based on availability of selected students; applicants are encouraged but not required to attend the next GAP Training and Work Session (Monday, March 1, 5pm-7pm) (NOTE: Volunteer openings for the March 1 session are full but LSC applicants who are able to attend will be provided a link to participate as observers)
