Gender Affirmation Project

Students will meet with transgender individuals who are seeking to correct or update their names and/or gender markers on basic forms of identification. Students will collect information and documents from individuals, explain the name and gender marker change process, and draft petitions and orders.

The Gender Affirmation Project is a student-led internal project of the Richard and Ginni Mithoff Pro Bono Program in partnership with OUTLaw. The January 29 GAP Clinic is being held in partnership with the KIND Medical-Legal Partnership (MLP). KIND MLP is a collaboration between Texas Legal Services Center and Texas Health Action’s KIND Clinic to address the health-harming legal needs of LBGTQ+ Texans and their communities through direct legal services, education and training, and population-health policy advocacy.
