Karan Ciotti is a partner with the Houston firm Ogden Gibson Broocks Longoria & Hall, LLP. She represents employers in non-competition, discrimination, and wage-and-hour litigation. She also represents insurers, plan sponsors, and employee benefit plans in ERISA suits. She has defended ERISA entities against traditional claims for benefits, breaches of fiduciary duty, and interference with protected rights, as well as claims for fraudulent inducement and other claims not preempted by ERISA.
Prior to joining Ogden Gibson in May 2010, Ms. Ciotti was a partner with the firm McGinnis, Lochridge & Kilgore, LLP for eleven years. She chaired that firm’s Employment Law and Employee Benefits Practice Group for five years.
Ms. Ciotti is Board Certified in Labor and Employment Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. She has been recognized as a Super Lawyer by Law & Politics Magazine every year since 2009 and has been AV-rated by Martindale-Hubbell since 2002. She is a Sustaining Life Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation and a Life Fellow of the Houston Bar Foundation.
Ms. Ciotti received her B.A. degree, cum laude, from Texas A&M University in 1986, her M.A. degree in American history from Texas A&M in 1988, and her J.D., with honors, from the University of Texas in 1991.
