Ms. JD Sixth Annual Conference: Passion Forward

Location: The University of Texas School of Law

At Passion Forward, participants were taken through a day of workshops focused on identifying and showcasing their passion. The first day included help identifing what you are passionate about and how you are best able to communicate those passions. Then, Ms. JD’s knowledgeable presenters worked with participants to build skills that will help display your passion through social media, blogs and articles, and by getting involved in organizations that share your commitment. Finally, Ms. JD will helped leverage the power of women supporting women by guiding you in the creation of a personalized master plan for presenting your passions after the conference. In short, participants walked away from the first day of Passion Forward with new and concrete skills to showcase to the world what is most important to you. The second day of Passion Forward included the Women in Law Institute, an all-day intensive workshop for second and third-year law students, judicial clerks, and LL.M.’s. In addition to a day jam-packed with advice and skill-building from top practitioners, attendees had the opportunity to network with one another and speak with attorneys from top firms and other local organizations. For attorneys, Ms. JD is seeking CLE credit in Texas and California.

Reshma Soujani Founder, Girls Who Cod
Author, Women Who Don’t Wait In Line: Break the Mold, Lead the Way

Reshma Saujani is the founder of Girls Who Code and the former Deputy Public Advocate of New York City. As Executive Director of the Fund for Public Advocacy, Reshma brought together public and private sectors to encourage entrepreneurship and civic engagement across NYC. Today, she has galvanized industry leaders to close the gender gap in STEM education and empower girls to pursue careers in technology and engineering. In 2010, Reshma became the first South Asian woman to run for Congress, promoting smarter policies to spur innovation and job creation. Advocating for a new model of female leadership focused on risk-taking, competition and mentorship, Reshma is the author of a new book entitled, Women Who Don’t Wait in Line, to be released by Amazon Publishing in 2013.
