- Thank you for serving as the chairperson for your panel at the Global Summit. As the chairperson, you will provide an invaluable service to the panel, to all attendees, and to the success of the Global Summit.
- Introductions: Please begin your panel at the scheduled time by calling the session to order, introducing yourself and the subject of the panel, and then identifying the speakers on your panel. You may be guided by the program itself, which includes the name and institutional affiliation for each speaker on your panel.
- Duration of Panel: All panels are scheduled to run for 90 minutes. Please inform your panelists as soon as practicable how you will conduct your panel, including the speaking order for the panel. We suggest that each speaker be roughly 10 to 12 minutes to deliver remarks. (Co-authors should generally share this time.) This allocation will of course vary according to the number of speakers on your panel. If your panel features a discussant, the discussant should be given sufficient time to make comments on the presentations.
- Share-Screen: All speakers will have the capacity to share their screen, should they wish, to aid in the presentation of their remarks with the use of slides.
- Questions, Comments, and Discussion: After all speakers have made their remarks, the remainder of the time may be used for questions, comments, and discussion. Please invite attendees to use the hand-raising function on Zoom. This will build a queue of questioners. You may then invite each person with their hand raised to ask a question. You may then lower that person’s virtual hand, and proceed down the queue. You may choose to take one question at a time, or to take two or three at once. We leave this to your discretion.
- Closing the Panel: Please conclude the panel on time. It is appropriate to thank the speakers and the attendees. Papers are not required to participate in the Global Summit. You have already been connected in a group email to all of your panelists. Perhaps you might invite them to “reply-to-all” with their draft or outline or a short note, assuming you wish to invite your panelists to circulate something in advance of your panel.
Thank you once again for serving as a chairperson at the Global Summit!
