Mr. Larry Kramer, the President of the Hewlett Foundation and the Dean of Stanford Law School (2004-12), will deliver the University of Texas Law School Endowed Lecture for 2016-17 on February 1, 2017. Entitled “The Long and the Short of It: The Problem of Fixing U.S. Democracy,” the endowed lecture starts at 10:15 am, in the Eidman Courtroom. In addition, Mr. Kramer will deliver a talk entitled “Mitigating Climate Change: What Comes Next?” that starts at 2:30 p.m., at the same place. Larry Kramer is the President of the William & Flora Hewlett Foundation, a philanthropic organization focused on solving social and environmental problems around the world, with an endowment of more than $9 billion.  Prior to this, he was the Dean of Stanford Law School (2004 to 2012) and held tenured positions at Chicago, Michigan, and NYU. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and serves as a director on the boards of a number of nonprofit organizations. His scholarship focused on constitutional law and history, federal courts, conflict of laws, and civil procedure.
