Texas Law alumni Chris and Anne Hamilton from the Class of 2004 have established a new scholarship that will benefit future students at the law school. The couple’s gift, made through The University of Texas Law School Foundation,  has created the Christopher and Anne Hamilton Endowment for Excellence Scholarship in Law. Chris and Anne are partners at the firm Hamilton Wingo, which is dedicated to serving the community and future generations entering the legal profession.

The Hamiltons have donated $50,000 over the past five years to endow the scholarship which will support students who have overcome significant socioeconomic disadvantages.

“UT School of Law is where we received our legal education and started down the path to our legal careers,” said Christopher Hamilton. “We believe it is important to give back to our community and the institution that set the foundation for our ability to help others. We want to give law students the same opportunities that were presented to us so they can take a step forward in their legal journey.”

“It’s critically important that law school is accessible to students from all backgrounds and income levels,” said Anne Hamilton. “Our goal is to make financial support available to students who would not otherwise have the opportunity to attend law school.”

The Endowment for Excellence campaign launched in 2014 to increase funding for student scholarships. The scholarships empower the school to attract talented applicants regardless of financial background.

“Words cannot adequately express our gratitude to the donors who make these scholarships possible,” said Liz Hilton ’90, executive director of alumni relations and development for the law school. “Their contributions will benefit our students for many generations.”
