About the Artist

Mery Godigna Collet contributed the images found on this website, which are photographs of her art. Born in Venezuela and raised in postwar Europe, Collet notes that she “grew up with the label of having a nationality from an oil producing country without any physical or psychological connection to it.” Incorporating unique materials like molten petroleum and crystallized vegetable fibers, her art explores the complex and oftentimes obscure relationship between humanity and oil. A selection of her work is currently on display in the suite shared by the Bernard and Audre Rapoport Center for Human Rights and Social Justice, The Center for Global Energy, International Arbitration, and Environmental Law, and the Center for Women in Law.
