Viktoriia Ishchenko is a 2019 Fulbright grantee from Kyiv, Ukraine, and attorney whose main field of legal practice and public activity is Energy Law. Since 2012 Viktoriia holds the position of the Leading Legal Counsel at PJSC “Ukrnafta”, the largest oil producer in Ukraine where she is responsible for legal matters related to oil and gas production, environmental issues, taxes, etc. On behalf of PJSC “Ukrnafta” Viktoriia was involved in $44.4 million dispute against the Russian Federation regarding compensation for expropriation of Crimean gas stations which were owned and operated by the company before annexation of Crimea in 2014.

As a member of the Energy, Oil and Gas Committee of Ukrainian Bar Association (UBA) Viktoriia held seminars and arranged Committee meetings related to legal challenges in energy industry which are an idea-sharing platform for experts, scholars and students.

As a member of the Coordination Council of Young Lawyers of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine in cooperation with Ukrainian professors and experts in this industry Viktoriia develops educational initiatives to establish an Energy Law School in Ukraine.

She is highly interested in oil and gas taxation, arbitration and dispute resolution, environmental matters and at the present pursues her LL.M. degree at the University of Texas at Austin with a concentration in Global Energy.
